MOD’s Vespa Scooters and Ben Sherman Overcoat – Genuine Retro Coat Very much the transport to have if you were a MOD in the sixties, also popular was the Lambretta. They were adorned with lots and lots of chrome headlights to the front. It was fashionable to have the side panels chromed too. Then came the fashion to take the panels off completely and show of the engine. You may even hang your grandmothers fox fur from the very long aeriel to the rear. There was a crash helmet called a deerstalker that looked like it belonged more on Sherlock Holmes, my brother used to put it on to keep mum and dad happy but once out of sight he would change into a navy french beret. I don’t know how the MOD’s kept them on as they sat more on the forehead than the head. It was not a legal requirement to wear a crash helmet. The MODS wanted to dress in smart suits, made from tonic mohair two tone fabric they topped that with green Parkers, Ben Sherman overcoats (shown on model and for sale) the footwear would be suede dessert boots, hush puppies and later Ivy Brogues.
